Moss & Sitar Ribbed Scarf
This is a free knitting pattern.
326 yards sport weight yarn. (Shown in 2 skeins of Loop-d-Loop Moss yarn. This yarn has been discontinued. We recommend using Frog Tree Alpaca Sport.)
82 yards bulky weight yarn. (Shown in 1 skein of Nashua Handknits Sitar yarn. This yarn has been discontinued. We recommend using Berroco Borealis yarn.)
Needles – size US 8
Crochet hook - size G
Finished size: Approximately 4" by 65-68"
Entire scarf is worked in 2x2 rib pattern (knit 2 purl 2).
With the sport weight yarn, loosely 32 stitches. Work 6". Work 2 rows using the bulky weight yarn. Continue in the sport weight yarn for 2". Work another 2 rows using the bulky weight yarn. Continue in the sport weight yarn until desired length. Bind off loosely in pattern. Weave in ends.
Fringe: Cut 32 pieces of the bulky yarn - each 13-14" long. Attach 16 pieces along each end of scarf.
With the bulky yarn, slip stitch a vertical stripe along any one knit stitch in one of the ribbed columns. Make sure you do this on the side that does not have the horizontal bulky yarn stripes. Repeat. These two stripes can be different lengths, and you can place them along any knit stitch. Weave in your ends.
