200 yards heavy worsted weight yarn. (Shown in 2 balls of Debbie Bliss Cashmerino Aran yarn.)
US #6 needles (16" circular) and size 7 needles (16" circular and dpn)
Instructions
Ribbing
With size 6 needle, cast on 90 stitches. Join into a round, being careful not to twist. Knit 3 rows, and then 15 rows in (k4,p2) rib.
Hat
Switch to size 7 circular needle.
Rows 1-4: knit
Rows 5-8: (p1, k2, p3) repeat to end
Repeat rows 1-8 of hat pattern 2 more times (for a TOTAL of 24 rows worked after ribbing)
Knit 4 rows.
Crown Decreases
Row 1: (p1, k2, p2tog, p1) repeat to end (75 sts)
Rows 2-4: (p1, k2, p2) repeat to end
Row 5: (k3, k2tog) repeat to end (60 sts)
Rows 6, 8, 13: knit
Row 7: (k2, k2tog) repeat to end (45 sts)
Row 9: (p1, k1, p1) repeat to end
Row 10: (k2tog, p1) repeat to end (30 sts)
Row 11: (k1, p1) repeat to end
Row 12: (k2tog, k1) repeat around (20 sts)
Rows 14 and 15:(k2 tog) repeat (10 sts after row 14, 5 sts after row 15)
Finishing
Cut an 8" tail and draw through open stitches. Pull to secure and then weave in.
