Kid's Summer Knitting Camp 2010
NEW PRODUCT! This summer, let your kids discover the art of knitting in our kid-friendly, hands-on environment where campers can discover their artistic side while learning a lifelong skill that improves concentration, dexterity, and math skills. Two levels are being offered this year:
Learn to Knit Camp is for new knitters (or kids who have minimal experience with knitting) entering grades 3-5. In this session, kids will learn basic knitting skills: casting on, knitting, purling, binding off, garter & stockinette stitch and ribbing. We'll have hand-on activities like dying your own yarn, experimenting with fleece, wet felting and spinning.
We Already Knit Camp is for kids who have participated in a Learn to Knit camp or already have good knitting experience with casting on, knitting, purling, and binding off. This session is for kids entering grades 4-7. We'll explore all the knitting skills necessary for creating a teddy bear sweater while enjoying other hands-on related fiber activities.
Both sessions are 5 days long (Monday through Friday) from 8:30am – 12:00pm. Kids will need a healthy snack and water bottle each day. Day to day schedule will be available on the first day of camp with any other special instructions. All parking for dropping off and picking up your child must be done in the Municipal Parking lot by the Brownell Library.
Please call us if you have any questions about which level your child should be in. Depending on knitting experience, we may be flexible with age! Camp sessions are filled on a first-come, first-served basis and enrollment is limited so we can provide the best quality instruction for your kids. Total cost is $175. The $100.00 deposit is 50% refundable through May 1, 2010, and then non-refundable. Balance of $75.00 will be due on the first day of camp.
Once we receive your deposit, we will mail your registration form(s). Please complete and return them to us as soon as possible.
